Welcome to the Website of Laboratory of Industrial Engineering, of NTUA

The Industrial Engineering Laboratory (IEL) is an officially established laboratory of NTUA Founded in 1962 (Official Gazette number sheet 32, Issue 1, 22/02/1962, Decree 132) and falls under the Sector Industrial Engineering & Research, School of Mechanical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). The Laboratory operates on the basis of the approved in the establishment of rules and in accordance with the rules of the NTUA.

Laboratory is active in research projects while it is the core of solving many problems of organization, administration, production and operational software to Greek industrial enterprises. In addition, the Industrial Engineering Laboratory is the link between academic teaching and the practical application of those lessons taught in the at the School of Mechanical Engineering of the NTUA.

Gradually and with the introduction of information technology in production, the laboratory became involved in the field of industrial software and its implementation in practice, to industrial users in the field of  production planning initially, and then in issues pertaining to the organization of business processes and information systems in production.

The laboratory was initially installed in the “New Buildings” of The School Of Mechanical Engineering in the building complex of Patision, while in 1997 the laboratory was moved to the building complex of Mechanical Engineering in Polytechneioupoli Zografou.

The mission of the Laboratory is summarized in the following:

1. Promoting science in the fields it is involved

2. Support for teaching needs in the context of the curriculum of the School of Mechanical Engineering of NTUA

3. Support of teaching needs to postgraduate programs of NTUA

4. Conduct basic and applied research, independently or under funded research programs

5. Providing services to industrial users and private or public organizations, in the form of performance measurement, analysis, processing and interpretation of the results, the drafting of reports and studies

6. The diffusion of the knowledge through the publication of scientific articles, books, monographs

7. The organization of workshops, symposia and meetings with scientists from Greece and abroad

8. The collaboration with academic institutions and research centers, institutes and other scientific organizations that have similar or complementary interests

9. Cooperation with private companies and public institutions with a view to the practical application of scientific research
